Limited Edition Pumpkin Chevre

DoGoodEatGood
We push ourselves daily to live this mission and think of all the different ways we can apply it. This past weekend, John and I organized a border service trip with Servant Church. We walked across the Brownsville-Matamoros bridge physically carrying supplies to refugees and migrants and culminated the weekend with preparing and serving a hot meal to 900+ folks in need. Thanks to all who dropped off donations to be delivered. I can assure you they went from our hands to theirs.

Secondly, it's time to announce our November #CharitableCheeseCause. Yes, we're early. For those who follow along closely (you're out there; thank you!), we usually do our benefit day the last Monday of the month. But now that the holidays are just around the corner, everything gets a bit hectic. And we don't want our fantastic partners to get overlooked. So on Monday, November 4, we'll be donating 5% of all shop and online purchases to the Breast Cancer Resource Center. Both John's mom and my own mom are survivors, and we've had many other family members and friends fight that fight and/or are currently in the process of doing so. Lastly, there are those we've lost to breast cancer. For those of our team members who lost loved ones to this disease, we are thinking of you and hoping to honor their memories.

The Breast Cancer Resource Center "is a place to ask questions, explore options, and connect with a diverse community of survivors, lifers, and thrivers who can relate in a way no one else can. All programs and services are offered free of charge to anyone affected by breast cancer regardless of income, ethnicity, education, sexual orientation, or social support. BCRC strives to embody understanding, preserve dignity, and always see the woman as well as the disease. We believe no one should face breast cancer alone." Want to support this great organization? You've got multiple ways to do so:
  • Purchase tickets now to our Cheese 101 tasting class on 11/4
  • Mark your calendar. On 11/4, purchase anything online (for a future receiving date). This includes our Thanksgiving DIY Cheese Board Bags (sshhh...first mention here!), cheese trays for the holiday season, and any gifts, including our monthly cheese club

In The Shop - Taste the Season
Oh y'all. It's back. It's a novelty. We know. But it's an oh-so-good novelty. And no, I'm not talking about a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte (which is not really my thing). But I AM TALKING about locally-made CKC Farms Pumpkin Spice Chevre. Yes, it's a fresh goat milk cheese with pumpkin spice in it. And I love it smeared on a Nervous Charlie's bagel for breakfast, as an after school snack on apples, and as a secret dessert bite after the kids have gone to bed. This is always in limited supply each season, so get in on the action while you can... unless our mongers buy it all first. ;)

Upcoming Tastings & Classes

Yes! Just when the weather is cooling off, our events are heating up. In fact, our next 6 tastings in October are SOLD OUT. Thank you Austin! (Stay tuned, because of our new awesome cancellation policy, last minute seats do often open up.) So what's up next you might ask?
Our Cheese Around Town
Few things go better with cheese than fantastic meats, and our friends at Baretto Kitchen & Cocktails on the west side of Austin make an awesome charcuterie board! Sourcing meats from Olympia Provisions in Oregon and Smoking Goose in Indiana, along with house pairings, this board (and a handcrafted cocktail or two) will hit all the right notes!

Using Hairy Man English Strong Ale, Red Horn Brewery has created their own very special version of a very special cheese! When Veldhuizen Cheese in Dublin, TX makes Redneck Cheddar, they wash the curds in beer, making it perfectly suited for a brewery to help craft their own. Stop in and see if you can taste the Red Horn influence in this truly Texas cheese!
