SILENT DISCO BLACK LIGHT Black Betty Release Party!
The annual arrival of Black Betty is something we look forward to for months every year at Antonelli's and indeed nation-wide! (In fact, whenever I see one of you around town, I always get asked, "When does Black Betty come in?!") A very limited number of wheels arrive each fall into the United States, making appearances at specialty retailers (and each only gets a limited supply - yes, it's pretty exclusive!). In fact, you'll be hard-pressed to find it at more than a handful of places in Texas if that!

This year we have planned quite the kick-off party to announce Black Betty's arrival - a black light, silent disco, special release party! Join us on Sat Nov 9 from 6 to 9 pm. Doors open (and complimentary beverages start pouring) at 6 pm. At 6:15 pm, we'll start a tasting of some of Betty Koster's delicious year-round selections and offerings, like Wilde Weide, Signature L'Amuse Gouda, and Brabander Gouda, each offered with a food pairing and true tales from Certified Cheese Professional (and our wholesale director) Alex Palomo. This past summer, Alex was selected to tour Europe with Essex Street Cheese, importers of Black Betty. That tour included visits to Betty's shops and cheese aging facilities, so you're getting details straight from the mouth! The final tasting to be distributed is the highly anticipated unveiling of seasonal and sought after Black Betty. The official tasting will conclude at 7:15 pm.

At that time, you're welcome to call it an evening OR join us for our black light silent disco party. Headphones will be handed out at 7:30 and dancing will last until 9 pm. Appreciations to beverage sponsors Left Hand Brewing Co. (for providing Fade to Black beer) and Serendipity Wines for your complimentary pairings. Throughout the event, we'll have some cured meat trays, and accouterments like olives, nuts, and bread available for snacking. Rhythm and "Blues" with LIVE MUSIC from Soul Wagon
Our new series, An Antonelli's Social, is the perfect experience for both music and cheese lovers alike! The evening will feature five of our favorite cheeses (two of which being our best selling "blues") and music by a local Austin artist. In this standing cocktail hour event, you'll have the opportunity to try our cheeses in an hors d'oeuvre style tasting with education from our cheesemongers about the history and tasting notes of each cheese. Between tastings, the evening's featured artist will play two sets to get the festivities started! Soul Wagon carries on the soulful and swingin' styles of the enormous collection of American roots music called Jazz and Blues. Leading the band on piano, Benito stays true to these enduring styles, showing respect to the composers all the while adding original and fresh arrangements to these great American songs. The band also digs deep into simpler blues forms driven by groove, soul, and raw energy... The perfect blend of old-school and new-school....and cheese. Ticket information here.

November Events Galore
Thank goodness the cooler weather is here. That means more of you feel like cuddling up with a hunk (of cheese) on the couch and/or celebrating the season by indulging in delicious tastings and experiences. This month, we have our regular class offerings, as well as two collaborations, two last bus tours of the season, two NEW music and cheese events, our long-awaited seasonal holiday classes (featuring many cheeses that are hard to get) AND....coming soon...a personal dream come true...RACLETTE NIGHT! Honestly, I think this month's programming is one of our all-time historical bests - rivaling only our 12 consecutive days of celebratory events last anniversary. We hope you'll grab a friend or treat yourself solo and join us.

Our Cheese Around Town
Using Parmigiano-Reggiano DOP from Italy and Montboissie from France to create Pao - a traditional cheese bread from Brazil, Vixen's Wedding in the new ARRIVE East Austin hotel is bringing some truly unique, international flavors to the scene: "Vixen's Wedding serves intensely flavorful eats inspired by Goa, India, Portugal, and our beautiful home state of Texas." As is now customary and for our 9th Thanksgiving, you can PREORDER our Thanksgiving Cheese Course. We're offering two sizes - a medium for $65 and a large for $115. We have a limited supply of each, so get your online order in today - especially if you're hoping to ship it. You can select to pick-up on Nov 25, 26, or 27. (Note we don't do plated Cheese Trays during this time, because they need to be consumed the day we make them and they don't travel well. Learned from experience! So a goodie bag best prepares you to just unwrap, plate, and voila! - there's your cheese course .... ready for grazing while you wait for that darn turkey, or (turducken?) to cook.
