Deadline: Superbowl Trays!
Step up your football munchie game with one of our cheese and cured meat trays. Whether you're hosting, headed to a friend's, huddling up at home, or not watching at all, we're pretty sure you can't go wrong with a big ole board of delish treats. If you want to pick up on Sunday, you've got to get your order in by midnight Saturday. However, it would be oh-so-kind to receive your online order by end of day Friday, just so we can plan ahead. After all, we need to know how early to get to work on Sunday to make all your beautiful trays. That's right. Lovingly made. Fresh. Every. Darn. Day. Check out all our various cheese tray offerings here.
FREE CHEESE WEEK...
...is here! That's right! Our big, make it rain, give cheese out all around Austin week is here! If you haven't partaken in the past 9 years of Free Cheese Week, now is your chance. Here's the skinny: we team up with three of our awesome partners each day. Starting at 5pm on their designated day, they give out free cheese boards to those who kindly request them. Note that it's only 1 board per table, and our partners do this and add goodies all on their own. (So we kindly ask you to tip your server, and it doesn't hurt if you want to order a beverage to pair with your board!) Once the boards run out, they're out. Then do it all over again the next day. Also! Don't forget to take a pic of your board and tag @AntonellisChz #FreeCheeseWeek when posting to social. From all public posts, we'll draw for a chance to win 2 seats to a Cheese 101 tasting (for you to claim any time in the future). Without further ado (and in huge appreciation to our partners and you all for making this a success), here's our #AntonellisTurns10 schedule:
• Mon 2/3: Nightcap, Halcyon Downtown, Easy Tiger Linc
• Tue 2/4: Winebelly, Gusto, Trace
• Wed 2/5: Bufalina Due, Max's Wine Dive, Lenoir
• Thu 2/6: Velouria, District Kitchen Anderson, La Volpe
• Fri 2/7: Black Star Coop, School House Pub, The Austin Winery
Check out all the details, links to each partner, and schedule here.

Dedicated to 'high quality wines in a snob-free environment', The Austin Winery likes to keep a selection of nibbles around to nosh on during your tasting. With cheeses such as Cafetero from Pachi Pachi Farms in Yantis, TX, to Pantaleo from Italy, and Red Rock from Wisconsin, along with palate-cleansing pairings, The Austin Winery will make finding your wine a fun, approachable experience!

How We Source
I, Kendall, often get asked how we select our products. It's a combination of research, attending food shows, volunteering in our industry (on boards, for conferences, judging), and more. One of my fave annual trips is to San Fran in January. This year, we were delighted to send our Buyer, Andrea Fazio, who quite literally keeps our shelves stocked, so that she could meet many of our makers and keep up the hunt for new treats. Here's her recap. And thanks Andrea!
Two weeks ago, I was honored to represent Team Antonellis at a jam-packed (literally!) weekend of specialty food events in San Francisco. The trip started out with the Good Food Awards ceremony, an event that honors artisans creating responsible, authentic, and tasty food in 17 different categories. Lucky me, I read the cheese category winners on stage! Being a more "behind the scenes" personality, I was nervous going up on stage in front of hundreds of my peers, and people I admire greatly. But as I read the winners, I quickly gained confidence listing off names of familiar cheeses we carry in the shop, including Sofia (Capriole), Toma (Pt. Reyes Farmstead), and Asher Blue (Sweet Grass Dairy). It was a homey feeling to hear the names of two Central Texas companies win as well, Treaty Oak and Vista Brewing! You can find Good Food Award winners all over our shop: Duck Prosciutto (2020), Chorizo Rioja (2020), Shiro Plum with Mint (2019), Reading Raclette (2019), Cave Aged Chandoka (2018), and Kunik (2018/2020), just to name a few! The next day I attended the Good Food Mercantile, featuring crafters from all over the country that meet the standards of the Good Food Foundation. It was an opportunity for me to get face time with many of the producers that I know and love, but also find fresh and responsible products for the shop and wholesale. We have a mission at Antonellis to "Do Good. Eat Good." and that includes meeting our makers, artisans, and producers face to face and ensuring that you'd be proud of us and them for making these good foods.
My final 2 days in San Francisco were spent attending the Winter Fancy Food Show. This was an incredible experience exploring aisle after aisle of producers, importers, seeing food trends, and sourcing great products for the Austin market. The Specialty Food Association honored these makers with Sofi awards for 2019, and we proudly carry them frequently in the shop: Coupole and Cultured Butter w/ Sea Salt (Vermont Creamery), Caveman (Rogue Creamery), and Bresaola (Tempesta Artisan Salumi). Hope I peaked your interest and that you'll take us up on the offer to come into the shop anytime for a complimentary taste of all these award-winning artisanal foods.
Stay Cheese-y Austin,
Kendall & John
