We are Open!
We Remain Open
Yes, more news has come out and we anticipate that Austin will follow Dallas's guidance to shelter in place, with the exception of groceries and essential services. Food supply chains remain operating. Knowing that we provide an alternative to packed stores, have thousands of pounds of proteins in stock, and offer same day pick up, we are continuing to operate. We are open daily 11-6 for processing online and phone orders, as well as virtual monger appointments. (Note: you cannot walk up and place an order, nor are we allowing any foot traffic in the shop. We are delivering curbside into trunks.) It is our goal to continue providing Austin with food and ingredients it needs, supporting farmers and artisans through this hard time, and keeping our team employed - all safely.
FREE DELIVERY through Favor
Depending on when you read this, Favor is currently offering free delivery of our cheese through March. That’s awesome! Favor is currently doing no-contact deliveries, ie leaving on your doorstep. There are 3 ways you can get delivery through us:
1. Order through the Favor app. (Please do tip your driver!)
2. Order online on our website and then on the Favor app, ask them to pick up your package (don’t reorder it all)
3. Order on our website and select the delivery option. Note: this gives you the most options and is streamlined but there is a $12 delivery fee (since it’s through a different Favor Fleet program)
A Whole Lotta Tears
This week, we have cried tears of exhaustion and tears of uncertainty but mostly tears of gratitude. WOOHOO! Thank you, Austin! You heard our call and have been answering. It feels arrogant to ask for more help. But we believe in our work, our purpose, and our ability to bring people together through isolating times. Our new rallying cry is “connecting community through cheese,” which we truly felt the power of in the past 5 virtual tasting events we’ve held bringing almost 400 people together online. Thanks for being a part of our cheese tribe and more importantly, our community. In an effort to keep you excited and stay afloat, we’ve got some new offerings - including more ways for folks outside of Austin to get our goods.
Virtual Cheese Classes
In the past 5 days, we’ve hosted 4 virtual classes in private video conference rooms (via “go to meeting”) taught by our team of cheese educators and 2 huge Facebook Live Tastings with the Antonellis. And the feedback has been a resounding, “More please!” Without further ado, we have launched new daily tastings, limiting most of these to small groups of 20. Get your tickets today, noting that we’ll send you the virtual class link and you’ll pick up your cheese plate that day during a specified window (usually 12-5). Class schedule here, noting that we have tons of offerings all March but this is what’s coming up within the next week.
PRIVATE PARTIES: Many of you had or have upcoming milestone birthdays or anniversaries. Some of you are worried about team culture during stressful times. And we’re all looking for ways to socially connect while remaining physically distant. Based on a customer request, we’re now offering Private Virtual Tastings. We’ll facilitate everything - ticket purchasing, links for the video conference, and having your cheese plate ready for pickup during a specified window (to be delivered curbside in your trunk).
Our Cheese 101 Class in a Box is a great way to enjoy Saturday night. Or lunchtime on a Tuesday. Or heck - 9 am on a Thursday, because in these times, why not?! Included in this package is a box of goodies, a tasting menu, and a link to our online Seven Styles of Cheese class taught by two of our educators. Upon receipt, you can set up your tasting, tune into the virtual class link, and enjoy your guided tasting all at your own convenience. Our certified cheese professionals will share with you stories of the cheesemakers, flavors that you might expect from the product and what pairings make sense together. Contains approx. 1 1/2 pounds of cheese, 7 pairings, and crackers. Order details here.
Social Distancing Kit - for Shipping
Social distancing is not something cheesemongers are used to. Our awesome team felt compelled to offer a care package that you can buy for yourself or buy for a friend. It comes with 3 cheeses, 1 salami, 1 jam, nuts, dried fruit, and crackers. Whether you just want to refill your pantry or have a shared experience between friends on google hangouts...this is a great way to decrease the distance of social distancing. So you may be physically apart but socially connected. Click here for more details or to purchase.
Testimonials: In Your Words
Thank you for the words of encouragement and gratitude. Our team needs them, and we appreciate you cheering us on.
With the COVID19 outbreak, many small businesses are struggling to find ways to pay their employees and to pivot their business models. Antonelli's on the other hand, made some quick changes and has been a godsend to the community. They have kept their employees busy by offering curbside service and allowing you to virtually chat with a cheese-monger. We ordered cheese to go and they were able to bring it out to our car quickly and utilized touchless payment.
The real treat though was the virtual cheese 101 demonstration. We ordered tickets for this "event" online, picked up our cheese plates within the provided window and then participated in a virtual cheese tasting with the owners via Facebook live that evening. It was incredible and the cheese was amazing. I learned a lot and I also felt so happy to be able to participate in an event, in when self-distancing. Thank you Antonelli's! We appreciate having you in the neighborhood! - Alisha
