A New Texas Cheese! & Aug Classes
“That” kind of business
When we first started out, we looked at other business models, often saying to ourselves, “Yes! We want to be THAT kind of business.” As a bootstrapping, mom and pop start-up, we didn’t get to open with all the perks that we’d want. (And we’ve still got a ways to go!) Still, we did what we could, and throughout the years, following our #ImproveEveryDay core principle, we’ve incorporated new ways to live our #DoGoodEatGood mission. From adding health insurance for team members (before mandated), to launching our yearly #CharitableCheeseCause nonprofit benefit program, to more. Well, we’re so excited to announce that we hit another milestone. A couple weeks ago, we finally started offering an employment assistance program (EAP) to our team members. Through it, team members have 24/7/365 access to nurses, mental health therapists, physical therapists, trainings, and more. As two survivors of depression, we are particularly grateful to offer our team members free access to therapists. And all of this has been made possible by you. So thank you to the most amazing customers, who are helping us daily become “that kind of business” that we always wanted to be.
A Perfect Cheese & Wine Pairing
Last week, we introduced a couple new wines and cheeses to pair with them. We’ve got another one to unveil!
Inspired by Shakespeare's Henry V, The Fearless is the first Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc in the United States, introduced by winemaker Chris Christensen in 2011; he’s since produced 11 varietals scoring 90 points or higher by Wine Enthusiast. Chris owns Bodkin Wines in Healdsburg, California alongside his partner Andrew Chambers to create inclusive wines to be "enjoyed in the here and now." We’re thrilled to bring The Fearless wine into our shop.
What to pair with The Fearless sparkling Sauvignon Blanc? Well, you know we love bubbles with bloomy cheeses (like brie and camembert), and we have a new bloomy cheese to introduce. Without further ado, please welcome Doublin’ Down into our business and Austin! It’s an organic double cream cheese made by Armagh Creamery in Dublin, Texas (near Stephenville). The palate-coating, crowd-pleasing cheese is perfectly complemented by the effervescence of the bubbles in this wine.
(Virtual) Tasting Classes Coming Up - AUGUST SCHEDULE!
Hey y’all! We’ve got most of our August classes online now (with a few more still in the works). It includes 3 fun collaborations all with local makers - Cheese & Preserves with Confituras, Cheese & Crackers with The Sourdough Project (first time ever and recommended by host Calvin), and Cheese & Pickles with Sheena’s Pickles (first time!). Plus, August is American Dairy Goat Month, so we’ll be bringing back our customer fave “For the Love of Goats” class (stay tuned). All are virtual with curbside pickups of cheese plates (or option for local delivery). Plus, as we all know, it’s freaking hot right now. So for the first time ever, we’re offering a Spicy Cheese class! Deadline to purchase tickets is midnight the night before an event. Click on the calendar date here to get more info or tix:
*Note: We offer classes and events in three different formats. If you’d like to know about how each different type of class is offered and the benefits of each, check it out here and scroll to bottom.
CELEBRATE! Not ready to brave restaurants? Or perhaps you don’t have the luxury of it as you seek to keep you or your immuno-compromised loved ones safe. Don’t forget we offer PRIVATE PARTIES for our Virtual Tasting Clients. Contact us for more details.
Our Cheese Around Town
Bufalina Due is rocking and rolling, and our family has been enjoying curbside takeout pies. They also launched a wine CSA if you're into discovering new libations and have two locations in town.
Support them and your fave locally-owned restaurants that you want to stick around.
