New: Cookies & Cheese Tasting!

Deep Inhale
I catch myself doing it multiple times a day. When my eyes first blink open in the morning. Another day of the abnormal. Deep inhale. When I pour my coffee and sit down to the morning news. Deep inhale. When I start working and hear our kids frantically trying to log on for virtual school. Deep inhale. And that’s basically the rhythm to our day. Often, these deep inhales lead to audible sighs of exasperation. But sometimes, they are simply mini-resets, pause for reflection, and/or a moment to ground my body and thoughts. Today, on the traditional middle “hump day” of the week, I peer out of my room at the drizzle and inhale. It doesn’t always work and you often can’t force it. But today. Today I choose to be grateful. To sit in the stillness as the rain washes away layers of summer heat and dust and brings with it cooler temps. To be so grateful for our team. To be thankful for our producers and makers. And to appreciate you. You have all kept us in business, kept us going strong, and kept us living our mission: Do Good. Eat Good. Thank you.

Cheese-y Kids’ Class
Back by popular demand! We offered our first family-oriented class during our 10th birthday celebration in February, co-hosted by our kids Everett and Elia. Well, we’re taking it virtual. This class will be hosted by Whitney and Kelly and is ideal for anyone aged 5+. Caretakers - please plan to be present alongside your kiddo (if not participating in the tasting yourself!). We can’t even control our own kids in virtual school, much less yours. ;) So work with us! This $20 ticket includes a flight of 4 cheeses and food pairings (for 20-30min), as we discuss the differences in milk types between cow, goat, sheep, and maybe water buffalo.

For this class, we are thrilled to pay it forward. 50% of all ticket sales will go to The Cheese Culture Coalition, a recently-formed nonprofit that seeks "to promote equity and inclusion within the cheese industry by empowering BIPOC communities through education." The CCC both supports existing BIPOC in the industry by assisting with access to educational opportunities, as well as makes cheese education accessible to BIPOC youth to develop an appreciation of cheese at an early age. If you'd like to learn more or make a donation to this new and worthy endeavor, do so here.

New Events Added - Facebook Live with The Antonellis
Last week, we announced a full September schedule of virtual tastings. You’ll see it and relative links below. But we noticed that John and I were resting on our laurels. (hah! I mean, John does get up at 4am and work maybe just me?!) It was actually a handful of you who noticed that John and I didn’t have any tastings coming up that we were teaching together. And we love that part of our jobs! So we added a few here. All are on Wednesdays and offered via Facebook Live. That means, anyone can watch - but if you want to enjoy the tasting, get your ticket here, pick up your plate that same day from 1-4 via contactless curbside, and join us later. You can either join us at 6pm for live questions and interaction or you can watch the recorded video on our Facebook page later that evening.

Wed 9/16 - Cheese & Cookies Pairing featuring Abby Jane Bakeshop Seven cheeses paired with seven cookies made by Abby Love and her team. Abby Jane Bakeshop is a locally owned bakery committed to the use of stone-milled, heritage flours in all their baking. They offer naturally leavened breads, pizzas, pastries, and sweets, all made by hand in Dripping Springs. (Opening in October 2020.) Thanks Rachel M for the rec!

Wed 9/23 - Taste of California (benefit for wildfire relief) Thankfully, California is one of the states with the highest number of artisan cheesemakers - allowing for us to spotlight producers and cheeses not yet featured in our last California tasting. Help us help them - both move cheese, as well as donate a portion of proceeds to the California Fire Foundation.

Wed 9/30 - Cheese & Ranch Rider Spirits Pairing We’ll pair two cheeses each with their 3 canned spirits, for a total of 6 cheeses and other pairing bites. Made in ATX, these sparkling tequila and vodka cocktails are made with a few, simple ingredients. Ranch Rider Spirits hit shelves earlier this summer - and are having a hard time keeping up with demand. It’s definitely been our summer drink of choice! (Note: This tasting includes alcohol. Must be 21+ to purchase.) Thanks Andreanis for the rec!

Our Cheese Around Around Town
Dip Dip Dip has reopened - and yes, they’re once again offering the mouthwatering “Raclette and Mushroom Pot Pockets.” Yes please! This features award-winning Reading Raclette made by Farms for City Kids Springbrook Farms in Reading, Vermont. It’s one of the best melting cheeses out there with just a touch of funk, umami, and caramelized onion aroma which perfectly complements the maitake mushrooms.

Are you hosting any in person events?
Nope, all events are virtual right now.

Does your virtual event come with a physical cheese plate for tasting?
Yes! You pick up your cheese plate via contactless curbside the day of the event (or you may be able to add on delivery for a fee to some addresses). Refrigerate your plate. Then pull it out of the fridge 45min before your event start.

Do you deliver?
While we don’t personally deliver, we do partner with Favor Fleet and DropOff Couriers to some locations. You don’t have to do that work though. Just order as you normally would, and we’ll handle the delivery part.

Can I have a private virtual party or event?
Yes! We’ve teamed up with individuals for special occasions like anniversaries and milestone birthdays, with companies to offer teambuilding appreciation events, and with nonprofits alike to help us all still cope with and celebrate through this pandemic. You need a group of at least 12 for a private party (at $40pp).

Can you ship my cheese plate?
Unfortunately, no. We cut cheese the day of the event. And what makes for good class plates (ie 1 ounce sample portions) does not make for good shipping conditions. However, we do offer a Cheese 101 Class in a Box and an American Cheese Class in a Box that we can ship. And if you want, get a group of 12 purchases together, and we’ll ship to your locations around the United States AND host a live event guided by one of our cheesemongers.
