Taste of Texas Class
Taste of Texas
Tomorrow marks Texas Independence Day. Honestly, I’m still feeling a little - um - uncomfortable after the whole “we have our own power - and lost it” thing. But! I’m going to channel those feelings into positive energy and support our Texas makers. We’re hosting a Virtual Tasting (for local curbside pickup) featuring a Taste of Texas this Thursday. We’ll have 7 Texas cheeses, as well as an assortment of Texas pairings - from chocolates to honey to jam to charcuterie. Better yet - include a Texas beverage artisan to round out the celebration! Ticket details here. (You’ll pick up via contactless curbside from 1-5 on Thursday.)
Curbside Pickup This Week
We’ve got something exciting up our sleeves, and while we aren’t at liberty to share it yet, of course we’ll “tell all” when the time is right. (After all, can I even keep a secret? John would unequivocally say “no!”) Due to this, we do not have any curbside availability for Mon, Tues, and Wed of this week. So go ahead and order online, but note that earliest pickup date will be Thursday. And we know you’ll need a restock by then! (Our warehouse is open for regular shipping this week.)
In The Shop
One of my favorite bites of 2020 was the Salted Cantaloupe Jam from Round Rock Jelly Co. Maker Sheri Valencia started in 2019, adding fun twists to favorite family recipes. And right from the get go, she won awards and acclaim for her unique flavor profiles. Each piece of jam is hand cut and each jar hand poured by this small family biz. In Sheri’s words: “The thought of salted cantaloupe brings me back as a child staring at a large bowl of cut up cantaloupe and with a sprinkle of salt on summer days. (If any of you caught the vintage pyrex in the 3rd picture, I love you even more. I have collected Vintage Pyrex since my early 20's). This jelly is a sweet and salty mix of fresh cantaloupe, sea salt, and a touch of vanilla.” Personally, I love enjoying it with some cured meat, much as it’s traditional to have sweet melon alongside prosciutto in Italy. So try this with any of our prosciutto, jamon, or cured ham options with a side of CKC Baby Blue or Gorgonzola Dolce, a creamy (young) blue cheese. Both are mild mannered blues that lightly compliment the salt in the jam while letting the fruit come forward.
Testimonials: Antonelli’s In Your Words
“We had a recap of our private cheese tasting with our sales team. Everyone was gushing about how successful it was and how much the clients loved it. One even said it was the best virtual event she has attended throughout the pandemic - high praise from folks who organize events for a living! You help make Austin shine!” - Christine. C.
“Y’all have been a staple for us in the pandemic. I remember coming home after my first curbside pickup last year and saying to my wife, ‘How the hell are they so friendly and chipper even when we’re in lockdown?!’ Antonelli’s pulled it off.” - Scott T.
“Every time I think *THIS* was the best Antonelli’s cheese tasting, but tonight’s was THE BEST.” - Susanne K.

In The News
Appreciations to the folks in our hospitality industry, who truly define the spirit of hospitality and keep feeding and hydrating our communities. One Austin Chronicle mentioned “Restaurants to the Rescue Even When They Needed Rescuing.” An anonymous localite under the nomer Sparkling Stardust also made this interactive map of places titled “Snow Angel Austin Restaurants” you can support that have been supporting Austinites. There are some notable folks missing, but it looks like they’re adding to the site to capture participants. And it’s a good place to start when thinking, “Hmmm. Where should I get dinner tonight?” Start here!
