Announcing our Reopening: JUNE 24!!!!!
AHAHAHAH! I feel transported back almost 12 years ago when we scrambled to open the doors at Austin’s first cut-to-order cheese and charcuterie shop. And here we are again. The same nerves. The same excitement. The same rush of getting ready mixed with a rush of adrenaline… And we hope, we hope(!), that there will be the same customer enthusiasm and support for our reopening, and that you’ll be there for us on June 24 - just as you were in 2010. In my traditional long-winded, verbose, story-telling style, I wanted to share why reopening isn’t just “business as usual, pre-pandemic.”
Like the good ole days, we’ll be opening the shop doors to allow for customers to come in, look for their perfect bite of cheese, and yes - even taste it! But we’ll simultaneously keep up the convenience of offering online ordering. So, if you’re the type of person that just knows what you want in advance and don’t want to wait to sample, feel free to keep ordering online. When you arrive, you’ll come into the shop and go straight to the register. As soon as one of our cheesemongers is free, we’ll be right with you to hand over your pre-paid order. Please note that we will not be offering curbside delivery to your car during this transitional time.
We truly can’t wait to see you… which brings up another change: You’ll be seeing some new faces behind the counter! While our same management team is still at the helm (the awesome Nicholas, Jeanna, and Jen), you’ll meet lots of new cheesemongers. Many of them started right after we closed the shop to customers. So while some have been with us over a year, you haven’t met them yet - nor they you! That means, we’ve got folks who have never had the privilege of live cheesemongering for a customer. They’re used to walking into the shop, seeing a pile of ticket orders, putting their heads down, and getting to work. Now, they get to add on the fun of working WITH you to find your favorite cheeses, cured meats, and pairings. We appreciate that you’ll give them all some grace as they settle into these new roles.
Lastly, we’ve got some exciting news up our sleeves - expanding our cheese tray program and other highlights. We’ll save those details for when we’re ready, but just know that you can keep ordering your cheese trays online here. (While we typically aske for orders placed by midnight the night before pickup, remember that we can often accommodate same day orders. Just call to ask us.)

The Cheese House is OPEN for Events!
Book Your Private Party or Tasting with Us - Yes! You’ve been looking for an intimate venue for your ___ [fill in the blank with showers, birthdays, team buildings, client appreciations, networking events, etc.]. Our 110-year old Cheese House is open again for events. We can comfortably accommodate around 30 guests for either seated, standing, or mixed events. Book online or get more info here.
Upcoming In Person, In HOUSE Tastings - Our amazing event hosts miss seeing your faces, regaling you with fun and educational romantic stories of cheese, and breaking bread with you in general. We’re slowly rolling out in person events. Each event has limited seating, and we’re doing ticket sales a bit differently so that we can distance folks out. That said, please note this is indoors. Masks are optional for all vaccinated folks.
Father's Day Fun
We've got lots of great gifts to celebrate the father figure in your life. Our "piece de resistance" is a subscription to our Monthly Cheese Club (available in 3, 6, and 12 months). We've also got an assortment of great gift baskets and on-demand tasting box experiences. You can opt for local curbside pickup, local delivery for a free, or shipping (but note that you need to get your order in by midnight for us to ship tomorrow for arrival by Friday!). And yes, we have these rad "Cheese is Magic" Unicorn Shirts for sale. (The horn is a golden wedge of cheese...because cheese!)
Yerba Mate Tea & Cheese Pairing - Virtual
Thu, June 17 (6-7pm* - or on demand that night) We are teaming up with our friends at local company CLEAN Cause who make organic sparkling Yerba Mate (herbal tea). Their mission is to support individuals in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction by creating a sustainable source of funding for greater access to sober living facilities. They achieve this with 50% of their profits funding sober living scholarships. In this tasting, you’ll get a tasting plate of 6 cheeses, 6 tea pairings, and 6 food pairings. Pick up your plate curbside (or have it delivered) on the date of the event, then join Kendall & John live virtually at 6pm OR watch it on demand later that evening on our facebook videos page. (You do not need facebook to view it.) Yerba Mate flavors that we’re pairing with include: Peach, Lemon Lime, Orange Ginger, Blackberry, Watermelon, and Berry Mint. Get tickets here. Thanks to a generous donation from CLEAN Cause, we’re also providing discounted tickets for folks in AA and Ben’s Friends, offering hope and support for folks in the F&B industry struggling with substance abuse and addiction.

Our Cheese Around Town - Emmer & Rye
Since 2015, Emmer & Rye has been bringing farm-to-table cuisine to Rainey St. Right now, they’re highlighting summer squash, pairing it with mole verde, garlic scapes, and Mixed Signal, a cold smoked, bandage wrapped cheddar from Grafton Village Cheese and Crown Finish Caves. With a menu centered around “the Farmer’s Haul”, their dishes can change daily, so you’ll want to check to swing by soon, while they are still offering this amazing dish!

Sat, June 19 - Celebrate Juneteenth!
Show your Texas pride by celebrating this bittersweet moment in Texas history when in 1865 Texas slaves finally found out that they were free according to the Emancipation Proclamation passed three years earlier at the end of the Civil War in 1862. Also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, and Liberation Day to name a few, the first celebration occurred in Galveston. The Statesman has a list of places and festivities marking this historic event here in Austin.

Our local nonprofit of all nonprofits, I Live Here I Give Here, is hosting this event both in-person and virtually (for whichever you prefer).
