To Gather in Person or Not… That is the Question!
Oh y’all. Y’all! None of us wanted to be here again. Yet here we are. And if there’s anything I know about us, we’re resilient. So, we can make it through this current Austin surge of the pandemic - again. Hang in there! (Our thoughts and prayers are with those in serious, urgent care and the health care professionals caring for them.)
We know everyone is going about this differently and has to take care of themselves in the ways that are best for them and their families. For now, our shop remains open to walk in customers. Our (fully-vaccinated) team is staying masked up for your safety and theirs. We kindly ask that customers wear masks in our tiny shop as well. You’ve always been awesome to us - and interested in us staying operational and open - so we know you’ll work with us to get through this again.
While we’re continuing with in person events - and making sure to keep them at limited capacity for a very intimate experience, don’t forget that we are still offering virtual tasting experiences. You simply pick up your tasting plate (or pay to have it delivered) and join us virtually for a guided tasting led by one of our cheesemongers.

From the moment we made the decision to go into business together, John turned to me and said, “We are doing this because we WANT to be together every day. If this is ever negatively impacting our relationship, we walk away from the business.” I think just knowing that gave us the freedom to choose to work together daily - even the tough ones. Many of you shop with us because we’re a locally-owned family business; that’s also how we attract the awesome team members we do. So it feels awesome to win the Family Business Awards in the first generation category, hosted by the Austin Business Journal! “Work-life balance is hard to find. So how does one conquer the balancing act when you're in business with family, and the personal and professional are inextricably intertwined?” Find out what we said, as well as the other two winners, in the second annual awards. ABJ subscribers can read the entire article here, including words of advice and lessons learned on the pros and cons of working with family. Congrats to fellow winners Sport Clips Haircuts (second generation) & Joe Bland Construction (3+ generations)!
Join Our Team
Because we’re lucky to have great folks work with us, often starting as a cheesemonger behind the case, we rarely have leadership positions available. Well, we’ve got an exciting new opportunity. We are hiring for an Ecommerce Lead. This person will work with our warehouse team (near 290E & I-35N). They’ll be in charge of processing incoming orders to be shipped, coordinating shipments of cheese tasting boxes for virtual events, curating our online selection of gifts, and working with our marketing manager to grow our e-commerce presence. Of course, when the holidays or busy times call for it, this person will also jump on the line to build and pack boxes to be shipped. The main qualities we’re looking for are folks who are technology-proficient and savvy, detail-oriented and able to prioritize to meet deadlines, problem-solvers who get busy (instead of frustrated) during challenging weather conditions, and are goal oriented, team players with an entrepreneurial spirit. We’ll be handing over a fledgling but established program to the right person who wants to grow it and grow with it. Interested? Check out our details and apply here. (As of the time I’m sending this at noon on Friday, we haven’t posted it yet. But it should be posted by early afternoon; stay tuned!)
We’re also looking for a PT Cheesemonger to work behind our cheese case in the shop. Don’t have any experience in cheese? That’s fine! We can train for that. We need you to show up with a smile, an excitement for customer service, and a passion for working on a team. Apply here.
