72% AMAZONIA / Askinosie
Sustainably sourced from a collective of female farmers in Ecuador, this bar has a fudgy texture with hints of raisin and mocha. (BY THE EACH)
A Perfect Pairing
Pleasantly bitter notes in this single-origin dark chocolate are an undercurrent that washed rinds & blues embrace warmly. We dream of Amazonia 73% with Timberdoodle & Gorgonzola.
The Full Bar
Askinosie Chocolate is a small batch, award winning chocolate factory located in Springfield, Missouri, sourcing 100% of their beans directly from farmers. In 2006, Shawn Askinosie left a successful career as a criminal defense lawyer to start a bean-to-bar chocolate factory, and never looked back. Shawn's daughter, Lawren, was raised around chocolate, and finished school early to ascend to the marketing visionary behind the brand. Shawn travels to regions of Ecuador, the Amazon, the Philippines, and Tanzania to source cocoa beans for his chocolate. They open their books to farmers, translating financials into their language – and profit-share with them. Then they do their best work to allow the essence of each cocoa bean varietal to speak through their chocolate bars. Produced in partnership with a female-led farmer group in Zamora, on the edge of the Amazon rainforest in southeastern Ecuador, Askinosie's Zamora, Amazonia 72% Dark Chocolate is made from cocoa beans grown on terraces surrounded by mature rainforest. It has an earthy rich chocolatey flavor that's fudgy with hints of raisin and mocha. Made with only organic cocoa beans, butter, and cane sugar, this is a fantastic bar to savor and share.
