Bastille Day Celebration at the French Legation

Celebrate Bastille Day with a guided French cheese tasting at Austin’s historic French Legation—an interactive, flavor-filled experience perfect for food lovers, Francophiles, and cheese enthusiasts alike. This event is BYOB (don't forget cups).

  • TIMING: We try to start our events as close to on time as possible. Please arrive on time or a little early. (Doors open 15 min before start time.) We'll guide all guests through a 1.5 hour tasting, leaving an additional 30 min for socializing. Total event time is 2-2.5 hours. 
  • LOCATION: The location of your event is located in your confirmation email.
  • PARKING: Ample parking is available onsite or adjacent.

Our public cheese classes are ideal for 1-7 people.

If you are coming with a group and would like to be seated together, please purchase all of the tickets together.

Please respect our event hosts’ goal to create a positive and unforgettable experience for all attendees. If your group is loud or disruptive, our event hosts will give you a warning. If they must address you a second time, you will be asked to leave the event with no refund given.

NUTS & GLUTEN: Antonelli’s Cheese is not a certified nut or gluten free facility.

RAW MILK: On our tasting plates, we often offer a mix of both pasteurized and unpasteurized cheeses.

VEGETARIAN/PESCATARIAN: Please note how many plates you would like to be prepared in this way and we will accommodate your request.

VEGAN: Note that Antonelli’s does not currently carry or offer Vegan Cheeses for classes.

Unless specifically listed as a 'family' event, we ask that all guests for in-person events be 13 years or older.

Please note that class content is often catered for an adult audience and the majority of class time is structured tasting and guided instruction with some breaks for socializing.

Happy (almost) Bastille Day!  

Celebrate Bastille Day in style with Antonelli’s Cheese at one of Austin’s most historic landmarks—the French Legation! Join us for a festive outdoor cheese tasting as we transport your palate to the French countryside with a curated selection of French cheeses, paired perfectly with accompaniments and stories that bring each bite to life. Whether you’re a seasoned fromage fanatic or new to French cheese, this experience is designed to delight, educate, and celebrate the joy of gathering.

Tabelside seating will be provided, but feel free to bring your ideal picnic spread. Hats and fans encouraged. Our Antonelli's cheesemongers will guide everyone through the tasting.  While water will be provided, feel free to Bring Your Own Beverage (and drinkware) to enjoy alongside the French cheese collection.

Fun Fact #1:
The French Legation is the oldest surviving wooden structure in Austin, originally built in 1841 to represent the French government in the Republic of Texas. What better place to toast to liberté, égalité, fraternité—with cheese!

Fun Fact #2:
France is home to over 1,000 varieties of cheese—enough to try a different one every day for almost three years. (We won’t have quite that many, but we promise every selection will be délicieux.)

Know Before You Go:

  • TIMING: The tasting will begin at 7:00p, please plan to arrive a few minutes early for parking 
  • LOCATION: Event will be held in-person at at the French Legation, located at 802 San Marcos St., Austin, Texas 78702. Please note that this is an outdoor event.
  • PARKING: Limited visitor parking is available in our lot located at 9th Street and Embassy Drive at 900 East 9th Street.  Metered parking is available along San Marcos Street, 9th and Embassy Drive. Visit Park ATX for more information about metered street parking. 
  • BEVERAGES: This event is BYOB.
  • RAIN: Tents will be set up onsite so you can still attend and enjoy!
