Deadline: Mother's Day Orders

The Boy Who Made Me A Mama
Happy 9th Birthday to my Everett Max! Yes friends, you get to read that message in your weekly cheese newsletter, hopefully reminding you that we’re a small mom and pop behind the veneer of a successful biz. The story of our boy is intricately linked to our business. We were a year and a half into the business, had finally hired 3 people so we could start family planning, had only recently taken our first day off(!), and then biz stuff happened and I tearfully cried, “We’re crazy. We’re too busy. We can’t start a family!” That’s when John turned to me and said, “Remember Kendall. We are doing this together because of the life we want. We promised that our business would never trump our personal lives and goals. Let’s start a family. The business will either work out or not, but we move forward with the life we want to live.” And that’s been our philosophy ever since! (Sound advice honey! And it became one of our core principles: Family First. Then Business.) We love you Everett - and all that your birth signified to us. Speaking of mamas, our team created a few special offerings below, from a Cheese & Chocolate Tray, to a curated gift box (with nationwide shipping), and a Virtual Tasting. Of note, I know this upcoming Mother’s Day weekend can be triggering - for those who are trying, for those who have lost, for those who never had, and more. You are in our hearts. For those who are looking for a special way to celebrate that maternal figure in your life, we’ve got the following lined up.

Pictured is Diablito cheese as representative for shape and size of Mi Corazon, as well as various chocolate boxes. Actual items are those described above while supplies last.

Virtual Bubbles & Cheese Brunch for Mother's Day
As you’ve heard before, bubbles are our favorite pairing for cheese. The effervescence just picks those delicious, palate-coating cheeses off your tongue, aerates and accentuates the pairing, and leaves your mouth fresh and wanting to dive back in for more. In this virtual event, you’ll get a cheese and food pairings tasting plate, a bottle of white sparkling wine, a bottle of Lambrusco sparkling red, and locally-made Rambler sparkling water. Remember this is for curbside pickup or local delivery only. Note: The first ticket ($70) includes a plate, Rambler water, and two full bottles (750mL of wine). Each consecutive ticket in your group ($40) simply includes the plate of cheese and food pairings and Rambler, since you can share the wine. This way, you can participate no matter if you’re a party of 1 or 6+! Get your tickets today.

May is American Cheese Month!
It’s been awhile since y’all have been in the shop, and perhaps some of you never have. So did you know that over 70% of our offerings are made domestically? Yep, in most instances, we can name the maker, speak to their practices, and heck - even where their kids attend college (or don’t). American artisan cheese is personal for us… especially since we have a job because salt of the earth, hardworking folks put their faith in us to represent them and tell their stories. It’s all part of our #DoGoodEatGood mission. Read on for ways to help us help American makers.

This nationwide initiative of the American Cheese Education Foundation (ACEF) seeks to:
(1) create excitement for American artisan cheese,
(2) raise funds for ACEF to award scholarships, and
(3) move the cheese! (ie support makers by selling lots of their cheese).

We challenge you to buy American ARTISAN cheese by finding alternatives for your European faves; help farms and cheesemakers stay in business so you’ll continue to get the cheese you love. Up to the challenge but not sure what to get? Call us and our cheesemonger will talk you through American alternatives and substitutes. Here are a few to get you started...
  • Comte → Pleasant Ridge Reserve
  • Stilton → Bayley Hazen Blue
  • Manchego → Fat Tail Tomme
  • Gorgonzola → Gore-Dawn-Zola ...and so much more!

Get tix to our 5/23 “Taste of the USA” Virtual Cheese Event. (For locals only who can pick up their plates curbside or order delivery.)

Order our Vegetarian Cheese Tray in May, which features all domestically-made cheeses. Bonus: they’re made with vegetarian rennet.

We’ll be donating partial proceeds to the American Cheese Education Foundation, which funds industry scholarships, free webinars, surveys and research, with a new (and admittedly late) vision to fund orgs working on making our industry inclusive.
